Tara Chiyabari

Tara Gaun Tea Estate, marketed under the name Tara Chiyabari, is located in the Suryodaya Municipality in Ilam, at an altitude of 5,400 meters above sea level. “Tara” means star, and “Gaun” means village in the Nepali language, and the view from this “star village” factory is magnificent. The snow-capped summit of the world’s third highest mountain, Kanchenjunga, can be seen beyond the tea fields. With it, the rolling mountains and hill towns of India, most prominently, Darjeeling are also visible.

Tea cultivation in this area started relatively late, in 1994, but has rapidly expanded since.

Suggested Steeping

2.5 gms per 6 oz of filtered water, steep for 3-4 mins at 190 F/88 C.

Vary leaf quantity, brewing time, and temperature per individual preferences.

Appearance, aroma, and taste
