Planted by Christine Barnes in 1877, this picturesque tea estate sits a few kilometers outside Darjeeling. The estate name is derived from that of the planter - Barnes "bagh" or Barnes garden. Tea in Barnesbeg is grown at an altitude ranging from 800 to 3,000 ft. The estate itself is approximately 700 acres in size, of which a little over 300 acres are under cultivation. Facing the majestic peaks of Kanchenjunga, the garden is located on slopes about halfway down from Darjeeling, affording it moderate climate which is ideal for growing tea.

Barnesbeg is organically certified after having received full certification in 2010. The estate is known to produce quality black and green teas, primarily china bushes, using a dual manufacturing process.
