Established between 1863 and 1868 in the picturesque Rung Bong valley roughly 30 km outside of Darjeeling lies Sungma Estate, known for growing high quality Darjeeling tea. The present day estate technically consists of two tea plantations, Sungma and Turzum, that were merged after an 8.0 magnitude earthquake in 1934 levelled the Sungma tea factory. The garden is around 30 kms from the Darjeeling town and is connected by excellent road network.

Prior to the earthquake, the estate was taken over by Jayshree Tea in 1933 and has witnessed continued investment in tea growing, successful replanting programs, employee welfare and tea manufacturing infrastructure.

Sungma is Organic and Fair Trade Certified.
