Located in the Kurseong valley, Rohini is the youngest estate in Darjeeling. This estate was closed for a period of 30 years plus until it was replanted towards the turn of the century. While the estate spans a little under 800 acres, only a little over 350 acres is planted. Of this approx. 270 acres was planted in 1996 and therefore consists of younger tea bushes that haven't yet attained maturity.
The garden is divided into 4 divisions - Jaberhat, Kotidhara, Pailodhara, and Tukuriya (in order of ascending altitude). Jaberhat is at the lowest elevation of 1,500 ft., while Tukuriya sits at a little over 4,000 ft.
An experimental oolong, this is as unique a tea as they come. Expertly crafted just before the estate enters a period of winter dormancy. Subtle is perhaps the best word to describe this tea - from the aroma to the clean, floral-fruity, mellow taste.
4 gms per 6 oz of filtered water, steep for 2-3 mins at 175 F/80 C.
Vary leaf quantity, brewing time, and temperature per individual preferences.
